New IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Training Modules

Newcomp Analytics’ IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) training modules cover topics ranging from beginner fundamentals to more advanced techniques and administration. These courses are designed to break down training into smaller detailed modules. Students can choose to take the modules that are most applicable to their role or need, in order to receive the most relevant training experience and maximize their IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) investment. The modules available are:

IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Fundamentals

This module covers the fundamentals of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), and introduces students to the essential objects, concepts and techniques required to build and maintain models. The class attendees will learn about dimensions, hierarchies, levels, elements, attributes, processes and chores before exploring an existing model. Students will then build multiple dimensions & cubes of their own both manually and programmatically from a variety of data sources and load the cubes with data.

IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Reporting

This module will introduce several of the client interfaces of TM1: Architect, Perspectives and TM1 Web. Students will extract data from TM1 cubes using a variety of available options and build input templates using the most common interfaces; Slices and Active Forms.

IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Cube Rules

This module is designed to provide students with the fundamentals of writing TM1 cube rules, both intra and inter-cube rules are discussed along with C-level and String rules. Students will also be introduced to Skipcheck and Feeds and they will learn how to trace and check both rules and feeders. TM1 Picklists will also be introduced in this module.

IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Turbo Integrator

This module focuses on TM1’s ETL tool; Turbo Integrator. Using this tool the student will practice performing common maintenance and import/export tasks in the TM1 environment. Attendees will build a planning model from scratch using ODBC and file data sources. Once the model is built processes will be created to perform common maintenance tasks such as creating subsets and updating reporting cubes.

IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Administration, Optimization and Additional Features

This module covers the administration side of TM1 along with design principals & configuration for efficient models. Participants will learn how to access TM1’s logs and configuration files, and both monitor and end threads on the TM1 server. The module will also introduce TM1 object security and ends with a look at some best practices for designing and developing a TM1 model.
