SQL Server Integration Services
SQL Server Integration Services is a platform for enterprise-level data integration and transformation. You use Integration Services to solve complex business problems by copying or downloading files, sending e-mail messages in response to events, updating data warehouses, cleaning and mining data, and managing SQL Server objects and data. The packages can work alone or in concert with other packages to address complex business needs. Integration Services can extract and transform data from a wide variety of sources such as XML data files, flat files, and relational data sources, and then load the data into one or more destinations.
SQL Server Integration Services Features
Create packages that move data from a single data source to a destination with no transformations. Quickly move data from a variety of source and destination types, including text files and other SQL Server instances.
Use SQL Server Integration Services to transform data and apply data conversions, and load data subsets into different or multiple destinations.
SQL Server Integration Services provides three different types of data flow components: sources, transformations, and destinations. Sources extract data from data stores such as tables and views in relational databases, files, and Analysis Services databases. Transformations modify, summarize, and clean data. Destinations load data into data stores or create in-memory datasets.
