Users interested in leveraging TM1 data in the Microsoft Excel environment and/or current Planning Analytics Prospective users.

Prerequisites

You should have completed TM1 Fundamentals training (Newcomp’s five TM1 Training Modules or the IBM comparable course), or have equivalent TM1 training and experience.

Instructor-Led In Classroom (1 day)

Newcomp can directly deliver courses through the use of in-class training facilities. Currently,  in-class courses are offered in Markham, Ottawa, Vancouver, Halifax, and Edmonton. Please note that classes can be added to new areas based on demand.

Instructor-Led Online (1 day)

Students receive the same quality as an in-class course, with a live instructor and the ability to participate in hands-on labs through real-life examples. ILOs help cut costs by reducing time and travel as they can be taken from home or the office and require only the use of a computer, high-speed wired internet and a headset.

N0PF0 – IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Fundamentals

This module covers the fundamentals of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), and introduces students to the essential objects, concepts and techniques required to build and maintain models. The class attendees will learn about dimensions, hierarchies, levels, elements, attributes, processes and chores before exploring an existing model. Students will then build multiple dimensions & cubes of their own both manually and programmatically from a variety of data sources and load the cubes with data.

N0PR0 – IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Reporting

This module introduces several of the front ends of IBM Planning Analytics/Cognos TM1: Architect, Perspectives, and TM1Web. Students will extract data from TM1 Cubes using a variety of tools, and build input templates and reports using the most common techniques: Snapshots, Splices, and Active Forms. This module will also include lots of practice building different types of dimension subsets (static, dynamic, private, hand-coded MDX and user-defined consolidations) and cube views.

N0PCR – IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Cube Rules

This module is designed to educate students on the fundamentals of writing TM1 cube rules. Both intra and inter-cube rules are taught along with C-level and String rules. Feeders are also introduced and students will learn how to trace & check both rules and feeders.

N0TI0 – IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Turbo Integrator

This module focuses on IBM Planning Analytics (TM1)'s scripting/ETL engine - Turbo Integrator. Using this tool students will build a planning model from scratch using a variety of data sources, and create processes to perform common maintenance tasks such as creating subsets, loading cubes with external data and maintaining reporting cubes.

N0PBP – IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Administration, Optimization & Additional Features

This module covers additional IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) features and concepts such as object security, picklists, drill-through, and dimension ordering. Students will also learn about logging, monitoring server performance and configuration, and general troubleshooting.

N0PAE- Essentials of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1)

This 5-day course covers topics ranging from fundamentals to more advanced techniques and administration in IBM Planning Analytics (TM1). This course is broken down into smaller detailed modules that students can choose to take separately or combined in the 5-day Essentials of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) course.   These 1-day modules include:   Day 1: IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Fundamentals Day 2: IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Reporting Day 3: IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Cube Rules Day 4: IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Turbo Integrator Day 5: IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) Administration, Optimization and Additional Features

PAITM – IBM Planning Analytics: Intermediate Training

IBM Planning Analytics: Intermediate Training is ideal for students that have taken the N0PAE- Essentials of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) training course (or have equivalent experience) and would like more hands-on practice with TM1.   This course is designed for developers looking to learn how to create dimensions and cubes; import, export, and manipulate data using Turbo Integrator; create rules and feeders; set up security and workflow, and create professional reports that are linked to Planning Analytics servers.   Students will participate in hands-on exercises that illustrate key concepts while building their knowledge of IBM Planning Analytics. It’s primarily “guided practice” (i.e. the student practices performing common TM1 developer tasks (building dimensions, exporting, importing, writing rules, etc.) with assistance from the instructor as requested. Exercises and sample solutions are discussed near the end of the session.   The majority of the week is spent building a “mini-project” where students take an existing Excel planning model and rebuild it in TM1.   This model includes the entire back-end including dimensions, cubes, rules, TI processes, and security. Students will build the input templates and reports for the front-end as well.

N0PAW – Reporting with IBM Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW)

This course introduces Planning Analytics Workspace: Planning Analytics' latest web-based end user tool. Students will learn how to build dashboards that combine traditional TM1 Excel slices, cube views, individual cube cells. dimensions, and visualizations as widgets in an interactive canvas. This course will also cover searching for content, navigating through the workspace using buttons, interacting with cube views (drilling, pivoting, filtering, data input) and applying formatting with palettes and templates.
