This custom course prepares students to undergo sophisticated data analytics in Alteryx Designer and data visualization in Microsoft PowerBI. Students will learn advanced data preparation, cleansing, and transformation tools in Alteryx Designer. They will understand the nuances of analyzing data in and outside of a live database environment. Spatial topics will be covered to enable students to design spatial workflows in Alteryx Designer. Students will also learn best practices for visual analytics, connecting to a visualization environment (Microsoft PowerBI), and illustrating their analytical insights in their preferred visualization software.

Alteryx Designer – In DB Tools

  • Review database structure, management, and best practices
  • Learn how analytical processes change for dynamic vs. static data
  • Understand In-DB tools within Alteryx Designer
  • Transpose an offline use case for an In-DB environment

Spatial Analytics

  • Learn how spatial data is treated within Alteryx Designer
  • Introduction spatial tools in Alteryx Designer
  • Create spatial points
  • Build spatial tools
  • Conduct spatial analysis
  • Solve spatial analytics use cases

Data Visualization

  • Review ad-hoc data visualization within Alteryx Designer
  • Introduction to data visualizations tools and environments (Microsoft PowerBI)

  • Create visualizations that highlight analytical trends and insights

Course Audience & Prerequisites:

Audience:

This class is for beginner to intermediate level Alteryx Designer users who wish to visualize their analytical findings. Users should be comfortable preparing, parsing, blending, and transforming data in Alteryx Designer and have some familiarity with data visualization.

Prerequisites:

- Familiarity with importing data from a variety of data sources

- A minimum of 3-5 weeks’ experience with Alteryx Designer

ALT10G – Alteryx Designer – Core Concepts

This course teaches students the building blocks required to complete more complex analytical tasks with Alteryx Designer. Students will gain a thorough understanding of important concepts that will enable them to prepare, parse, blend, transform and analyze data from disparate sources and output their results. This course provides students with the skills required to prepare for the Alteryx Designer Core Certification Exam.  

ALT20G – Alteryx Designer – Advanced Concepts

This course teaches students higher-level Alteryx abilities and builds on the ALT10G – Alteryx Designer – Core Concepts course. Students will learn more advanced preparation, blending and parsing techniques. Other areas explored include; spatial analytics for creating points, lines and polygons, creating reports for consumption, macros and applications to minimize workflow dependencies, and an introduction to the Alteryx Gallery.   This course provides students with the skills required to prepare for the Alteryx Designer Advanced Certification Exam.

ALT30G – Alteryx Designer – Predictive Concepts

This course is designed to teach students how to utilize Alteryx to perform predictive analytics. Concepts covered in this course include: Time series, regression, predictive grouping, and how to create an R Macro in Alteryx. Students will learn how to prepare and analyze data before running it through models to ensure to create meaningful predictive investigations.

ALT40G – Alteryx Server Fundamentals

This course teaches students the ins and outs of Alteryx server deployment, including the Gallery, Controller, and Scheduler. Students will review server architectures, learn to appropriately allocate resources, and provision controller and worker nodes, all with an understanding of modern distributed computing.

M20778 – Analyzing Data with PowerBI

This course will provide students with a good understanding of data analysis with Power BI. The course includes creating visualizations, the Power BI Service, and the Power BI Mobile App.

M6998 – Power BI Fundamentals for End Users-2016

This course is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the capabilities of Power BI. Students will discover how to quickly gather, cleanse and transform data with just a few clicks. They will also learn that to enhance results by integrating disparate data sources and add simple calculations using DAX functions and queries. Students will create visualizations and incorporate them into dashboards that can provide up to the minute reporting. At the end of this course, the students will have a solid understanding of the skills required to use Power BI.
