B5130G – IBM Cognos for Microsoft Office: Integrate with Microsoft Office (V10.1/10.2)

This course is an Introductory-level WBT that teaches consumers how to extend the benefits and capabilities of IBM Cognos BI to business users who prefer to work with Microsoft Office. Through interactive learning activities, students will learn how to import reports and report elements from IBM Cognos Connection to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word. Students will also learn how to publish IBM Cognos-enabled workbooks, presentations, and documents to IBM Cognos Connection, and run entries in IBM Cognos Connection using IBM Cognos for Microsoft Office.

Please Note: Screen captures and simulations in this course are taken from the V10.1 of the product. However, the concepts, procedures, and tasks are all applicable to a V10.2 environment and are suitable for V10.2 user education.

This two-day, instructor-led course introduces students to the IBM Cognos Solutions Implementation Methodology (IBM CSIM), the elements of IBM Cognos 10 BI, and the underlying architecture. They will examine the process of creating an IBM Cognos 10 BI solution, discuss how IBM Cognos 10 BI relates to the other parts of IBM Cognos 10, and review how the IBM Cognos 10 implementation methodology complements top Project Management methodologies. Students will also be shown a range of resources to help them successfully manage their implementations.

IBM Cognos Query Studio: Build Ad-Hoc Reports (V10.1/10.2) is a one-day, instructor-led and instructor-led on-line course designed for business authors who want to learn how to create, modify and organize ad hoc reports. This course covers how to use different report capabilities, how to graphically display data, and how to create reports with a consistent look and feel through the use of templates. The course also covers basic administrative tasks, such as scheduling reports and delivering reports in different formats (e.g. HTML, PDF, Excel).

Please Note: Query Studio will not be available after version 10.2.2 – thus, we are recommending that our clients transition to Cognos Workspace Advanced. IBM Cognos BI Analysis Studio: Analyze Data (V10.1/10.2) is a one-day, instructor-led course that teaches business authors to navigate and analyze data in Analysis Studio. Through a combination of lectures and hands-on workshops, attendees will discover trends, identify opportunities, and learn how to make better business decisions. Students will learn techniques such as ranking, filtering, asymmetrical crosstabs, and graphing to help them analyze large volumes of data (whether OLAP or dimensionally modeled relational metadata). They will also learn to manage reports through IBM Cognos Connection.
